A long time ago, there was a girl.
One day, she got married and moved to her husband's house where there was also her mother-in-law living together. Her mother-in-law was a sick woman who often fell ill.
After about a month passed, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were not happy with each other. Any work done by the mother-in-law was loathed by her daughter-in-law and also any work done by the daughter-in-law was loathed by her mother-in-law.
They used to debate and quarrel a lot. They quarrelled one day, two days, one week and even quarrelled months and months. They quarrelled without missing even a single day. They didn't like to see each other. Their relationship became a nightmare.
The son couldn't say anything to his wife and mom. He had to live a very upset and depressed life. He felt his house was not even like a house.
One day, his wife went out for a walk. On the way, she met her father's friend who was a herbalist. They talked to each other about how they were doing.
She told him that she was undergoing a very tough situation, "I have to quarrel with my mother-in-law every day. I don't even like to look at my mother-in-law's face. I rather feel like killing her. If you have a poisonous medicine, please provide me so that I can feed her to death. I'm very much angry."
Then the herbalist thought for a while and agreed to give her the poisonous medicine.
The herbalist went inside his house and came out with a sack of leaves. "Now you listen to my instructions very cautiously," Said the herbalist, "When you go back to your house, you never quarrel with your mother-in-law.
You can pretend as if you are having a good relationship with her.
You carry out whatever the tasks she gives you.
Give her much care and comfort.
Listen to her orders and carry out the tasks accordingly.
Cook good rice and curry for her. But whenever you feed her, make sure to crush one leaf and add it inside the rice and curry every day. This will gradually kill your mother-in-law!
Don't give all the leaves at once because this can kill your mother-in-law instantly and all the neighbours will charge you as they know you frequently quarrel with her".
The daughter-in-law agreed to his instructions and took away the sack of leaves.
When she reached home, she began to change her behaviours. She took care of everything for her mother-in-law. She pretended as if she was very happy.
She carried out whatever the tasks were given by her mother-in-law.
She cooked good meals for her mother-in-law. As instructed by the herbalist, she crushed one leaf added in the curry and rice every day. No matter how badly the mother-in-law treated her, the daughter-in-law would always do good in return. This process continued for about six months.
Now the mother-in-law felt very pity for her daughter-in-law. She felt that she was the only one who is so unkind and rude person. She also began to treat her daughter-in-law well. They gradually grew into boundless love and affection like a real mother and daughter. Everything at home went smoothly. They became very much contented and on the other side, the husband also became contented.
Although the daughter-in-law's intention was to kill her mother-in-law, she grew her intense love for her mother-in-law. She felt very much worried thinking that her mother-in-law would expire at any time. So she made up her mind to go back to the herbalist to get a medicine that can counteract the poison from her mother-in-law's body.
The daughter-in-law went back to the herbalist and she told him that everything had improved at home, "Now I don't want to let my mother-in-law die. I feel she is my own mother as she treats me like her own daughter. Please provide me with an antidote."
The herbalist replied with empathy, "My dear, your mother-in-law will not die. The leaves given to you were just to cure your mother-in-law's illness. Actually, the real poison was living inside your mind and the way you work toward your mother-in-law. Don't worry. The leaves were not the poison. Now the real poison has gone out of your mind and your relationship has improved."
The daughter-in-law thanked the herbalist and lived happily ever after with her husband and mother-in-law!
The moral of this story is that the problem of the relationship is not with your partner or your family members or society. The problem is within you.
No matter how people treat you badly, always treat them well in return. You will see positive results soon and things will improve naturally.
Don't hold any negative attitude or destructive thoughts.
No matter how your friends and family react, always be kind and polite in return.
